FSVAA Agenda Outline


Each of the five days will feature at least two major topics with case studies, activities or applications related to providing quality, professional advocacies and services to Florida crime victims. Some of the topics will include:

What the future holds for victim services in the Sunshine state

New techniques for working with child and teen victims and their families

Campus crimes and their effect on victim services in your community

Taking stock: where you are in your profession and where you want to be

Gang violence and your role with its victims

Understanding and working with mentally ill victims and their families

Techniques for working with developmentally disabled children and adults

The right stuff for serving elder victims

Research, statistics and planning strategies to improve your work and your organization

Working together: How various agencies can maximize their resources to better serve victims


All participants will be expected to participate in all sessions, read any assignments provided in advance, share expertise and work cooperatively with others during the Academy days.
